Definition of a Volunteer

A person who enters into any service of his or her own free will, without obligation and with no promise of compensation.

Volunteers are invaluable to the LeRoy Haynes Center. The volunteer program's design is to enhance the services provided by the LeRoy Haynes Center by having individuals and groups support our mission, values and vision through the dedication of their time.

DEVELOPMENT in the COMMUNITY

What Can You Do To Help? - Volunteer

Board/Committe  
  Board involves oversight and administrative support of the center. Committee activities under the leadership of Board Members include: event planning, finance, advocacy, board recruitment and planned giving. Board membership requires a personal financial commitment and a commitment to attend monthly board meetings and committee planning sessions.
   
Teach/ Art/Music/Games/Mentor a child
  Program Volunteers work with the children by reading, drama, music, sports, sharing a hobby, skill or tutoring.
   
Speakers' Bureau
  Volunteers will learn about the center and promote the Center through speaking engagements to community groups, organizations and corporations.
   
Organize one activity through your organization or company to benefit the children such as:
  Organize Your Own...
    Sponsoring your own annual company, corporation, church or industry event to benefit the children at LeRoy Haynes. Even walking in the L.A. Marathon can be used as a tool to raise funds and awareness to benefit the LeRoy Haynes Center.
  An Employee Giving Program can be leveraged, if your company has established a matching gifts program.
  Form Affiliate Groups within your Church or Prof. Group
  Suggested Projects:
   
  • Holiday Gifts/Host A Holiday Party or a Fund Raising Activity
  • Refurbish Cottages & Classrooms
  • Provide Networking system Computers and Software for: Classrooms, Reading Lab & Cottages
